SALISBURY - Herbert Harris Elrod, Jr., 63, of Salisbury, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 10, 1949, in Anderson, S.C., he was the son of the late Noreen Yeargin Elrod and Herbert Harris Elrod Sr.
Mr. Elrod was a graduate of Ben L. Smith High School, Class of 1967. He also attended business college in Winston-Salem.
Mr. Elrod was a truck driver for 17 years until his retirement in August. He was a member of Spencer Moose Lodge and High Rock Community Church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Hicks Elrod, who he married Dec. 21, 1977; daughter April Elrod of Salisbury; sister Pat Rieves and husband Dave of Belhaven; along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Service: Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at High Rock Community Church, East Campus. Memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ronnie Pinyan officiating.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to High Rock Community Church, East Campus, 7800 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC 28146.
